We recently took a trip out to New Jersey (as we often do for productions these days) to record footage for our client, At Home Recreation, at their Hazlet storefront and warehouse. This is a business that sells an incredible selection of pools, spas, patio furniture, bicycles, and all sorts of accessories related to those products. They even have several pools and hot tubs bubbling with water in-store for customers to get the full experience (though it's unclear on whether or not they can take a swim...)
The goal was to capture their store's inventory in an exciting and elevated way, and to show their customers the vast inventory in stock. So, drone was the obvious choice and judging by the dailies, it did not disappoint! We recorded gorgeous and sweeping interiors and exteriors and showed off a perspective that customers may not typically experience.
There were two distinct challenges with this undertaking: (1) drones can often get disoriented indoors due to the potential disruption of their satellite connection and (2) while flying closely over bodies of water—pools, lakes, oceans, drone sensors can have difficulty detecting where the ground is, causing unnecessary shaking and undesired movement. Fortunately, none of these challenges hampered our efforts too much!
One of the most important aspects of any drone shoot is safety. When we’re bidding on projects like this, we always make sure prospective clients understand the importance of working with a licensed, professional, and insured drone operator like our very own Danny Feighery.
If a drone operator seems too cheap, there’s often a reason. Cutting corners on safety and insurance could leave your business vulnerable to accidents, property damage, or liability issues.
It was also an opportunity to partner with our friends at Town Square Ignite, a targeted advertising company that gets ads in front of the right audience. Once this footage is edited into a short commercial, color-graded, and ready for audiences, Kevin Moedt and the Town Square team will ensure a tailored and ultra-targeted distribution.
